Transparent sources, practical postcode zones.

The map is a planning reference. Postcode systems differ by country, and broad logistics prefixes are not administrative boundaries.

Postcode locations

European postcode locations combine GeoNames (CC BY 4.0), Eurostat GISCO 2025 (CC BY-SA 4.0) and selected OpenStreetMap country extracts (ODbL 1.0). GISCO supplies NUTS, local administrative unit and urbanisation context where available. Zone centres are calculated from the available locations in each prefix group.

Boundary layers

Germany currently includes a PLZ2 polygon reference layer. Other countries are shown as clearly labelled zone centres until reliable, reusable boundary datasets are added. A centre marker must not be interpreted as an exact postal boundary.

Base map

Base cartography is provided by OpenFreeMap using OpenMapTiles and OpenStreetMap data. © OpenStreetMap contributors. Machine-readable record counts, versions and source combinations are published through the EuroPostcode coverage endpoint.

Corrections

Postal services can change codes and source datasets can contain omissions or inaccurate coordinates. Send a specific code and supporting source to info@openfreightmap.com.
